Tucson, AZ – January 2018 – Hughes Federal Credit Union is now accepting applications for $10,000 in scholarship funds, to be awarded as $2,000 scholarships to five local high school students. Winners will be announced on April 14, 2018, at the credit union’s 66th Annual Meeting, kicking off the thirteenth year of the Hughes Scholarship program.
“Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic excellence, creativity and interest in making financially sound decisions for college,” says Kerry Graham, Web and Digital Manager at Hughes.
“This year, we’re excited to see the creative ways students will answer the application’s essay question in written and video formats,” Graham continued. “The Hughes scholarship is a great way to get young students to start thinking about their financial future and recognizing all the ways credit unions can help them achieve their goals.”
Applicants must be high school seniors entering college, university or trade school in fall 2018, and must be a member of Hughes. To enter, submit the online scholarship form, along with either a short written essay or a 30-60 second video that answers the question, “How do you plan to manage your finances as a college student and how can Hughes help?” by March 4, 2018. Application forms and details are available at HughesFCU.org/Scholarship.
