Denver, Colo. – All Denver Community Credit Union staff will volunteer at five nonprofit sites on #DenverCommunityGives Day, Monday October 14th. Volunteer projects will support Metro Caring, Denver Children’s Advocacy Center, Food Bank of the Rockies, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver ReStores, and Volunteers of America Colorado.
On their third annual #DenverCommunityGives Day, credit union staff will renovate Metro Caring’s Children’s Area so they can start offering childcare for the families they serve. Metro Caring works with our community to meet people’s immediate need for nutritious food while building a movement to address the root causes of hunger. Denver Community staff will build emergency backpacks and make blankets for kids in crisis served by the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC). DCAC’s mission is to prevent abuse, strengthen families and restore childhood. Employees will also sort and package food at Food Bank of the Rockies and Metro Caring, serve meals to community members in crisis with Volunteers of America, and organize Habitat ReStore donations.
Denver Community employees have collectively volunteered over 700 hours in 2019 so far, which is an estimated value of $19,500 for local nonprofits. #DenverCommunityGives Day aligns with Denver Community Credit Union’s vision of “Advancing financial opportunity” by making a difference in the lives of our community members. This full day of volunteering and recognizing community service further encourages Denver Community staff to remain involved in the communities we serve year-round.
Denver Community Credit Union was recently recognized as a Civic 50 Colorado Honoree and Company Category Leader by CSR Solutions of Colorado and Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.
