Boulder, Colo. – Premier Members Credit Union regrets to announce the passing of former board member John E. Flynn Jr. on August 2nd, 2016. Flynn served as a volunteer for more than 40 years as part of School District 50 Credit Union, with 32 years as its treasurer. SD50 Credit Union would later become a part of Premier Members Credit Union. John was born, raised and educated in Denver. A navy veteran of World War II, John was an educator, coach, innovator and champion of special education. After earning his PhD. at University of Denver, Dr. Flynn developed the Special Education Program for Westminster Public Schools, formerly Adams County School District 50. He devoted his life to education, and, in tribute, Flynn Elementary School was named for him.
“John’s service, contributions and leadership to the credit union are an important part of our history and heritage and he will be missed by his credit union family.” said Carlos Pacheco, Chief Executive Officer of Premier Members Credit Union. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
He is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 67 years, six children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Mass is 9:00 am, Saturday August 6 at the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary, 12801 W. 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge CO 80033. Viewing will be prior to services, starting at 8:00 am at the same location. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Flynn Elementary School, in care of Westminster Education Foundation, 7002 Raleigh St, Westminster 80030.
