Fitzsimons Credit Union board of directors has named Robert “Bob” Fryberger, Jr. as the next president and chief executive officer of Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union, succeeding Sandy Neves who announced her retirement effective June 30, 2017. The board appointed Robert Fryberger as president/CEO, and Ms. Neves as emeritus chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2016, to ensure a smooth and seamless transition through Sandy’s retirement next year.
Robert Fryberger joined Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union team in 1989 as accounting supervisor. Throughout his tenure Robert held various senior positions including chief financial officer and executive vice president. In 2014 he was promoted to president, where he was responsible for all areas of the credit union’s operations. He has over twenty-seven years of credit union and financial services expertise. Robert has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Colorado Boulder. He is immediate-past chairman of the City of Aurora’s Business Advisory Board and serves on the Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) Budget Committee.
“After conducting a thorough succession planning process and evaluation, the board of directors is excited to have Robert Fryberger take the lead in carrying on Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union’s rich tradition of serving members,” said Board Chairman Lyle Artz.
“Bob has been an integral part of our success at Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union,” said Ms. Neves, “and I am enthused and optimistic about his being named as my successor to the position of president/CEO. We have worked closely for many years, and I am proud and confident that in this role he will carry forward the Fitzsimons vision of being the ‘recognized leader in our community by consistently delivering an exceptional partner experience.’”
“It is a privilege to work with the Fitzsimons Credit Union board of directors and staff in serving our members’ financial needs,” said Robert Fryberger. “I look forward to the opportunity to build upon Fitzsimons’ momentum as we work together to continue enhancing the value of credit union membership for our members.”
“The board and I are honored to have had the opportunity to work with Sandy over the years,” said Chairman Artz. “She has had a remarkable career and distinguished tenure, and her contributions to Fitzsimons Credit Union and the Credit Union System are immense and pave the way for us to continue to build for the future. She took the credit union from $50 million to $175 million and led it through several major economic disruptions and forced relocations as a result of the closure of the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and the displacement by the Veterans Administration. We are extremely grateful for her visionary and energetic leadership and very excited to recognize her distinguished service by having her serve in an emeritus role for the next year as we transition the duties of president/CEO to Robert Fryberger.”
CEO Sandy Neves began her credit union career as a teller in 1981 with Fitzsimons Federal Credit Union and became its CEO in 1990. Ms. Neves has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, is a Certified Credit Union Executive and an honors graduate of Western CUNA Management School. She has held numerous leadership positions within Fitzsimons Credit Union and has served on several boards and committees within the Aurora community and the Mountain West Credit Union Association. Ms. Neves was awarded Aurora’s Business Person of the Year in 2002 and selected to the Colorado Credit Union League’s Hall of Fame for Achievement in 2005. She currently serves as secretary on the MWCUA Board and the Strategic Partners Board and chairs the MWCUA Education Advisory Committee.
