Donation to support military mentoring programs
SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 17, 2016) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce a $2,500 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak. The donation will be used to support the organization’s military mentoring programs for children who have a deployed or active duty military parent or a parent who has died on duty and are in need of support, mentoring, and guidance.
“Having a parent in the military can be very difficult for a child and having a one-on-one mentoring program for them can give them the support they need,” said Danielle Summerville, executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak. “This donation from Security Service is incredibly generous and we are so thankful for their help.”
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-on-one relationships that change their lives for the better. The military mentoring programs are especially crucial to those children who need the extra support. For 97 years, the organization has been fostering these relationships in the hopes that the children will improve their sense of self and their future.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Pikes Peak offers a variety of programs that children and adult mentors can participate in. High school students can find support to succeed in college, children can find someone to encourage their love of sports, and volunteer mentors can find an impactful use of their time to better their community.
