Nearly 600 Credit Union Professionals to Gather at Annual Meeting & Convention
DENVER, Co. & PHOENIX, Az. (April 27, 2018) – The Mountain West Credit Union Association (MWCUA) released its annual report to association members and disclosed financial reporting for the year ending December 31, 2017 at its annual business meeting today. The meeting was conducted during the MWCUA Annual Meeting & Convention being held April 26-28, 2018 at The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, CO.
Nearly 600 conference attendees representing 59 credit unions from across the Association’s tri-state trade area will participate in the three-day event. Credit unions from Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming make up the regional membership. The Association holds its annual business meeting as part of the convention. Voting members were updated and received the Association’s Annual Report.
“At the Association, we see our role as being a force protecting our member credit unions in all areas,” said John Uchida, Chairman of the Association Board of Directors and President and CEO of Space Age Federal Credit Union in Aurora, CO. “We greatly adhere to the principles of building financial stability, democratic control, and ongoing education, among others. We take these very seriously and it is reflected in our ability to provide a significant value for our member credit unions.”
Attendees of this year’s meeting and convention will benefit from breakout sessions offering the latest industry training including analytics, leadership, recruiting & retaining talent, board & supervisory committee training and growth strategies and more. They will also see keynote speakers John Best of Best Innovation Group (BIG) and John Ainsworth of CU Ledger presenting the opening keynote on the topic of “Breaking Digital Gridlock.” John Best is a thought leader and “outside the box” innovator recognized throughout the FinTech arena, with a particular affinity for credit unions. John is the founder and CEO of the financial technology firm Best Innovation Group (BIG). John Ainsworth serves as President/CEO of CU Ledger. John is a seasoned financial services executive whose background includes over 30 years of product and sales management experience with major financial organizations such as SunTrust Banks and Visa International.
Attendees will also be challenged by the closing keynote: Overcoming Challenge with Matthew “Griff” Griffin co-founder of Combat Flip Flops in Kabul, Afghanistan. A Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in Engineering Management, Griff served in the 75th Ranger Regiment as a Rifle Company Fire Support Officer with three tours to Afghanistan and one tour to Iraq. Griff’s keynote will be immediately followed by the presentation of the Mountain West’s CU4Kids Award in special recognition of credit unions work towards Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals.
