Cheyenne, WY (April 17, 2015)—Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union has provided over $7,000 in financial assistance to qualifying credit union members who are experiencing difficulty in paying their home heating bills.
The credit union’s Heat Energy Assistance Trust (HEAT) program helps low and fixed income families pay their home heating bills during the winter months. The HEAT program is funded through fees generated through the annual Winter “Skip-A-Pay” program, which allows credit union members to skip a month’s payment on a qualifying loan for a small $20 fee. A total of $7,349.76 has been dispersed to 29 Meridian Trust members.
“With the increasing heating costs in our area, we recognize that this program is as important as ever. Additional funds have been dedicated to this program to help cover the increased need. We are grateful for members willing to participate in the Skip-A-Pay program and the ability to give back to those in need,” said Kim Withers, CEO.
Meridian Trust Federal Credit Union provides financial services to more than 22,000 members, with Wyoming branches in Cheyenne, Lander, Rawlins, and Jackson, along with a branch in Scottsbluff, NE; and PowerTrust branches located in Casper and Rock Springs, WY.
