So much has changed in the past several months, and fundraising events are no different. During this time, we have had many discussions both internally, and with peers about the best approach to certain larger events.
Our Foundation and its Board announced last week that they have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to cancel the in-person Star Gala, scheduled for October 23 in Phoenix. The Foundation Awards have also been postponed until 2021.
As you know, the event is one of our largest fundraisers of the year, and its cancellation will cause a significant deficit to the Foundation’s budget. To that end, we are asking our generous supporters to consider a proposal. In lieu of sponsorships and ticket sales, we are thoughtfully asking credit unions to consider making a donation to the Foundation in the amount you would have budgeted for Gala. We are exploring appropriate ways to recognize our generous donors and will communicate that soon.
We are sincerely saddened about this cancellation, but under these extraordinary circumstances, we feel it’s in everyone’s best interest to practice caution. If you have any questions, please contact Diana Adell, email@example.com, or Dr. Dan Santangelo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your consideration. I will miss seeing all of you and celebrating our outstanding colleagues. We look forward to an extraordinary event in 2021!
